…in my opinion.

Only You!

In this story, a king entered his garden one morning and found everything withered and dying. He asked the oak that stood near the gate what the trouble was. He found it was sick of life and determined to die because it was not tall and beautiful like the pine. The pine was out of heart because it could not bear grapes like the vine. Likewise, the vine would throw its life away because it could not stand erect and have as delicate fruit as the peach tree. The geranium was fretting because it was not tall, fragrant like the lilac, and so on throughout the garden. Coming to a heart’s-ease, he found its bright face lifted as cheery as ever. “Well, heart, I’m glad, amidst all this discouragement, to find one brave little flower. You do not seem to be the least disheartened.” “No, I am not of much account, but I thought that if you wanted an oak, or a pine, or a peach tree, or a lilac, you would have planted one, but as I knew you wanted a heart’s-ease, I am determined to be the best little heart’s-ease that I can.”

Heart’s-ease or Wild Pansy or Johnny Jump up

“Others may do a greater work, but you have your part to do, and no one in all God’s heritage can do it so well as you.”

Whispherers of Lies and Half-Truths

A gossip or bearer of tales does no good. You don’t want to be one. Watch for those who act as a friend but are enemies. Let’s be honest, we all are prone to listen to those who have dainty morsels to share about others. Don’t do that. You might repeat what you hear and further the strife that the whisperer or gossip has started.

Discontent and strife spread among brethren and neighbors, both. It is a contentious man or woman who is hard to please. They are apt to find fault in everyone and everything. They love a good argument and seek to spread the damage as far as possible.

Journalists today primarily act as tale-bearers or whisperers of lies or half-truths. Some know what they say is a lie, while others get instructions on teleprompters from their bosses higher up the chain of command. Seldom are the facts told or shared with the public. If they were, we would likely come to different conclusions. Therefore, strife gets spread among the citizens of this country. What can we do? Research what is said as thoroughly as possible, and turn off the TV and not read their posts.

PROPAGANDA – What Does It Look Like?

We hear the term “propaganda” and think of communist countries in history and worldwide today. But we have been experiencing propaganda in the United States for a long time. It is now more prevalent than ever before. How can we recognize it? Below are 8 characteristics of today’s propaganda.

  1. It prevents dialogue.
It gives no details, allows no discussions, and excludes all contradictions and debates.
  2. It focuses on the Mass.
Its message is directed to large population groups. The individual presents too much resistance to its message unless they are part of the larger group.
  3. It is “Total.”
It uses the press, radio, TV, movies, posters, meetings, door-to-door canvassing, and social media platforms. All technical means are used at the same time to saturate the population.
  4. It takes over Education.
The younger, the better for propaganda purposes.
  5. It takes over Literature and History.
Tear-down statues, the 1619 Project, and Critical Race Theory are examples. All must be rewritten according to the propaganda’s needs.
  6. It must be subtle at first.
Moves slowly at first to create a climate of acceptance. The ground is prepared before any direct prompting. We are already at the direct prompting.
  7. It must be nonstop.
All day, every day, including weekends. Individuals must not be allowed to recover or to collect themselves.
  8. It aims at Irrational Action.
The aim is to provoke action and arouse an active and mythical belief (like green energy).

Great Stories! One perspective…

What follows is a conversation that took place many years ago in a far away place. But if we listen carefully to what is being said, we may find ourselves in that same place at this current time.

It is like in the great stories. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were. And sometimes you didn’t want to know the end, because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened?

But in the end, it’s only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come, and when the sun shines, it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you that meant something.

Even if you were too small to understand why. Folks in those stories had lots of chances of turning back. Only they didn’t. They kept going, because they were holding to something. There is some good in this world and it’s worth fighting for.

By now you have probably guessed that this was part of a conversation between Sam and Frodo in the Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. You may not recognize this time of our as a “darkness” that we are fighting our way through. Remember that you who are of the faith and believe in Christ and His Word are a light in this darkness. Let not the evil keep us from telling the truth both loudly and clearly. For many are not seeking the truth and few are uncovering it. But don’t let that be said of you most valiant of warriors!
